SAT3 Satellite Speakers Image Great

TruAudio's SAT3 Satellite Speaker Imaging

"Fourteen feet apart... and they still imaged great!

Don Hindenach of House of Hindenach AV Systems:

"I'm actually a speaker designer. I build 'em. Have for decades. And I'm good. Interestingly enough, I did sub-satellite systems before BOSE did. I've been doing them for thirty years now. But from a small manufacturing standpoint, I can't compete with what a factory can do. I can't build them small enough.

Well, Dan, my inside sales guy, happened to see that little eight second video on your SAT3 satellite speakers and said, 'That just looks cool as hell.' He told me about them and I said, "Gosh, let's get 'em in here. Let's take a look."

We ordered them in and they got here just a day or two ago. Well, I heard all this racket in the showroom and Dan comes around the corner and says, "Come here." He had them fourteen feet apart on the shelf... and they still imaged great!

He had them aimed straight out and I had to stand right in the middle to hear it. I've carefully tilted them in over the past twenty-four hours and got that image to be solid over a broader area in the middle. But they image really, really well.

And they go lower than the similar-sized Canton's. They've got more bottom end. And they still managed to stay warm through the mids. Canton's got a better tweet, but there's nothing the matter with the tweet in the SAT3. Nothing at all. Plus, the Canton's cost more. We were just amazed at how much low end the SAT3's had... more than anything in that range with the Canton's."

The THIN-Ceiling Speaker

THIN-Ceiling Speakers Save the Planet

On Earth Day, and as a part of its “Going Green” month, TruAudio reintroduces the THIN-Ceiling speaker with its minimalist footprint and packaging that is both environmental and installer-friendly.

“We originally designed the THIN-Ceiling as a solution speaker for a shallow wall or obstructed install, and we gave it our patented Ghost grill so it has the smallest footprint of any 5” architectural speaker,” said Kary Wawrzyniak, Vice President of Technology. “Now, we’ve decided to take it that next step by giving it a complete eco-friendly package - and it benefits our installers at the same time!”

Most speakers come packaged in extensive amounts of styrofoam that is both hard to recycle as well as harmful to people and animals. TruAudio has removed all styrofoam from its THIN packaging. This has allowed TruAudio to reduce the overall size of the THIN box - further saving in cardboard and ink.

The THIN is in all ways minimal so installers won’t have a pile of boxes, paper and plastic to throw away after the install - showing clients their own commitment to go green.

All cardboard and paper used in the THIN packaging is composed of recycled content. Wawrzyniak states that the next environmental iteration for the THIN will be the elimination of colored inks in its packaging and the movement to an online users manual to further reduce paper wastage.

TruAudio Rock Speakers

Live Long, Live Loud!

"I tell my customers when they balk at rock speakers that TruAudio's are different.

I tell them that these sound like tower speakers. You get good volume and good bass.

They don't believe me until they hear it. As soon as I turn it on, they go, 'Wow!'

I've had customers tell me it sounds like a big nightclub, the sound is so good.

Now I actually have customers recommending the rock speakers to their friends!"

Manuel Cordova, TruAudio Dealer

At TruAudio, we started with the rock’s interior components. Each rock speaker comes with a TruAudio high grade injected polypropylene driver. The injected poly was selected because of its even and consistent sound while also ensuring a long and dependable outdoor life.

We chose to use a top-of-the-line 1” Titanium tweeter in all of our TruAudio rock speakers. The titanium tweeter gives the rock a true-to-life dispersion of sound and has the unique ability to provide higher volumes of sound while lowering the listener’s ear fatigue. Titanium is also best suited for a variety of weather conditions.

To give customers the rich, full sound they expect from any speaker, we also focused on the cabinet. We designed their rock speaker with an extra-large resin cabinet that was tuned specifically to produce exceptional volume with a full range of sound. Each resin cabinet is also environmentally sealed to prevent corrosion and insect infestation.

The TruAudio Rock Speaker is built to last and sound wonderful for a very long time.

TruAudio Introduces Outdoor Birdhouse Speaker

ST. GEORGE---April 1, 2013—As part of its “Hands Grasping Feathers” initiative, TruAudio is unveiling a new line of outdoor birdhouse speakers.

“I’ve noticed that when I install outdoor speakers, many end up with a bird nest on top. I just figured If you can’t beat ‘em.... So, I suggested to TruAudio that they make an outdoor speaker that also functions as a bird house. And danged if they didn’t do it!” said Chris Zarndt of Las Vegas Home Theater. Zarndt became Head Creative Consultant with TruAudio in the development of the BRD-22 Outdoor Birdhouse Speaker.

The BRD-22 comes in a custom-designed cabinet made from UV resistant, ABS plastic that is both durable and homey in nature. TruAudio also developed its own ABS color - BRDdrop white - that will withstand years of weather abuse while providing discrete color matching for the occupant’s waste products.

The BRD-22 features a 6” injected poly woofer that is timbre-matched to the Yellow-throated Warbler - a breed largely considered to have the most ubiquitous of bird voices. And, in an innovative move, TruAudio opted to leave out a potential tweeter in exchange for increased living space.

“We figure if we’re going to all this trouble to provide them with a speaker and a home, the least a bird can do is tweet about it,” said Zarndt.

TruAudio Introduces The Acoustiscape:

Versatile 70 Volt  and 8 Ohm Landscape Speaker

ST. GEORGE---March 25, 2013—TruAudio announces the newest addition to their outdoor audio line with the Acoustiscape landscape speaker. The only dual 70 Volt and 8 Ohm capable landscape speaker on the market, the Acoustiscape gives integrators the flexibility of using a landscape speaker that will work in virtually any install environment, at less cost, while delivering impressive sound.

“TruAudio integrators appreciate a speaker that not only sounds good but is also easy to work with. We designed the Acoustiscape to be a very versatile, all-in-one outdoor speaker,” says Kary Wawrzyniak, Vice President of Technology at TruAudio. “We’ve included everything you need with Acoustiscape and it can be sold into a variety of different installs.”

While most companies have a 70 volt or a 8 ohm landscape speaker, TruAudio combined them into one speaker.  With a simple switch on the back of the Acoustiscape, integrators can choose the appropriate electronics setting for different install requirements. Looking for great stereo sound in a small area? The Acoustiscape’s 8 ohm setting will provide rich and voluminous sound. For large outdoor areas, the 70 volt setting gives integrators the flexibility and cost savings of a daisy-chain configuration providing excellent sound throughout the listening area.

A unique mounting design gives clients a full range of motion so they can position the Acoustiscape and direct the sound exactly where they want it to go. With a 2-way design, the Acoustiscape sports a 4.5” injected polypropylene woofer and ¾” soft silk dome tweeter producing great sound with robust volume that is perfect for the outdoors.

The Acoustiscape comes complete with a 14 inch (355mm) industrial grade, metal ground stake. The Acoustiscape wiring is all concealed in the ground stake, so nothing is exposed to pests or the elements. Housed in a stylish, non-corrosive sealed enclosure, the Acoustiscape speaker is waterproof, weatherproof, and impervious to the elements.

Finally, by incorporating new engineering and manufacturing efficiencies, the Acoustiscape is available at one of the most attractive price points in the industry.

The Sound of Innovation

TruAudio Creates New Tagline:

Emphasizes History, Philosophy and Focus

ST. GEORGE---February 7, 2013— TruAudio has adopted a new company tagline to better reflect its past, its current product line and the focus for its new product development going forward. TruAudio will use the tagline “The Sound of Innovation”.

Bryan Garner, President at TruAudio, calls it a “no-brainer”. “Adding the tagline ‘The Sound of Innovation’ seemed logical given what we’ve done in the past, how our current products are differentiated in the marketplace, and how we want to position ourselves for the future,” he said.

TruAudio introduced the first frameless speaker to the audio industry in 2008, calling it the Ghost Series. Using a magnetic grill rather than the standard friction fit, the Ghost had a mere 2 millimeter reveal that virtually disappeared in the installation environment.

The frameless Ghost represented a revolutionary change to the audio industry that was quickly adopted by the majority of speaker companies. But the Ghost also represented a much quicker, easier install for integrators.

That approach to innovation typifies TruAudio’s focus. While always looking for the revolutionary change, it’s the smaller, more practical innovations that make up TruAudio’s bread and butter. Some of their recent product introductions typify that practical approach.

Working with their authorized dealers in Europe, TruAudio designed an in-ceiling speaker that would come pre-mounted with a specially-tuned back box and be thin enough (measuring 2.38” in total depth) to fit in the concrete wall construction that typifies the european market. TruAudio introduced the
THIN-Ceiling.

However, TruAudio also incorporated innovations in the THIN (such as flush dog ears) giving it the smallest footprint of any 5” architectural speaker. Consequently, US integrators use the THIN for obstructed installs. Anytime an integrator runs into wiring, piping - or HVAC ducting - that would prevent proper speaker placement for optimal sound, the THIN is the answer.

The SLIM-300 Soundbar, introduced in 2012, is also a new product that captures the “Sound of Innovation”. With a single-body aluminum extruded housing that measures just 2.2 inches in depth, the SLIM will match the flattest flatscreens. The SLIM also has six 3.5” glass fiber active drivers and three 1” titanium tweeters with a crossover tuned to the enclosure for impressive sound.

But, again, there are innovations in the SLIM-300 Soundbar that also focus on the integrator. The SLIM has been designed with both a cable trough and mounting track that keeps wiring tucked away and allows the integrator to flush mount the SLIM with zero-gap on the wall. Plus, integrators can hang the SLIM in less than two minutes!

Garner says more innovations are in TruAudio’s product pipeline. “The spherical SAT3 satellite speaker that uses neodynium magnets for innovative omni-directional sound positioning will be re-introduced this month. The aFrame Acoustic Artwork is really unique, allowing end-users to wrap a high fidelity stereo system in their favorite piece of art and play it from their Bluetooth device. That will be introduced next month. We’re excited!”

That’s the Sound of Innovation!

SLIM 300 Sound Bar

SLIM 300 Sound Bar rear view

The Relentless Pursuit of SLIM

Over the years our dealers’ biggest request for custom soundbars has been “Can you make ‘em thinner?”

So, we created the 2.2 inch SLIM 300 Sound Bar.

Most flat screen TV's, when mounted, stick out from the wall about 1 to 2 inches. Well, our SLIM sound bar is so thin that it will match up perfectly with the flattest flat screens out there. Clients think it was custom-made for their TV.

The SLIM was designed with "thinness" in mind. We did a variety of things to make the SLIM as thin as possible. Here's one. Well, actually two!

Brock Belliston is TruAudio's resident Master Engineer. In designing the SLIM, Brock realized that achieving product thinness is not a matter of simply constricting the size of the product. There are other factors to consider - like wiring.

Brock decided to prevent the wires from adding to the SLIM's thickness completely. He did this by designing the SLIM with two significant features.

First, he designed the SLIM terminals to sit in a recessed valley so neither the terminals nor the wiring extends out beyond the SLIM's back panel (see top photo). Then, he designed a special trough on the lower edge of the SLIM where the wiring could be secured and hid. This allows the installer to keep all the SLIM's wiring tucked away nice and neat so the SLIM can mount flush against the wall.

Seemingly small innovations that make a big difference in the installation and client satisfaction with the SLIM 300 Sound Bar!

THIN-Ceiling Speaker

TruAudio THIN-Ceiling Speaker

"My whole team was surprised by the sound!"

"I majored in Electrical Engineering and minored in Acoustical Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, I designed and installed dozens of nightclub sound systems in the 90's before specializing in residential....I know sound.

We just installed a 7:2 Home Theater here in Boston using the REV6 LCR's for fronts, the REV6 SUR for sides, the new THIN-CEILING for rears, a CSUB-10 and a PS-8 sub powered by the Denon AVR 3313 (125W/channel).

The THIN speakers allowed us to achieve proper placement despite some HVAC ducts - which was great! We wanted to gauge the acoustics/efficiency/sound of the new THIN using the REV6's as a baseline. My whole team was very surprised by the sound before we ran the Audyssey MultEQ XT. After room correction/calibration we lit the THIN's up with everything from Skrillex on Pandora, Jazz mp-4's, to an Eagles Live Blu-ray.

Obviously, there was a difference listening to music on the multichannel setting (although not as remarkable as I expected), but for TV/Movie viewing I wouldn't hesitate using the THIN's as rears again when facing space limitations.

Great innovation guys!"

Teddy K., TruAudio Dealer

SuperTHIN Saves the Day!

The THIN-Ceiling Speaker was designed as the solution for any time you have a shallow wall, obstructed install, or your client prefers a smaller, more minimalist look.  If you have wiring or piping - or HVAC ducting - that keeps you from placing a speaker where it should go for proper sound matching, the THIN provides the perfect solution. Any place where a regular-size speaker won't fit - any place where space is at a premium - the THIN is your answer.

THINgineering

We've designed the THIN as one complete unit that comes with a pre-mounted back box - an architectural speaker that measures a mere 2.375 inches deep, back box and all! An integrated back box also saves you time, money, and makes for an easy installation. And the THIN back box is sealed so you don't have to worry about anything getting into it.

Great Sound

Despite its size, the THIN provides impressive sound. That's because we gave it a full 5" driver constructed of injected polypropylene and a 1" soft silk dome tweeter. We've also tuned the THIN crossover to its enclosure so you will get a consistently great sound across every installation. A rich TruAudio sound from a little, unassuming speaker.

Small Footprint

Not only is the THIN "thin", we also gave it the smallest footprint of any 5" architectural speaker. The ridiculously small footprint is about an inch smaller than our 4" Ghost in-ceiling speaker. We also gave the THIN our patented Ghost grill with its tiny 2 mm reveal (square and rectangular Ghost grills are also available as accessories).

THINk Green

If all of that were not enough, we made the THIN packaging environmentally and installer friendly. The THIN comes in a very small box with an absolute minimum of wasted space. Use the THIN in your next install and you won't have a pile of boxes, plastic, and cardboard to throwaway. The THIN is in all ways minimal - and that means less hassle for you.

Looks good, sounds good, thinks like an installer, and saves the day when it comes to shallow wall or an obstructed install.

New TruAudio Mobile App Helps Integrators

Save Time, Money, Increase Convenience and Profitability

TruAudio is introducing an innovative mobile app allowing integrators to purchase TruAudio.com products as well as create cost estimates and present job quotes from their iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile device.

“There’s an obvious convenience factor, but I think the app’s biggest benefit to the integrator is you can walk the job with the customer, calculating the job quote as you go. You can close the sale with your customer right then and there - all from the convenience of your mobile device,” said Bryan Garner, President at TruAudio.

Integrators will be able to use the app to purchase everything that is available on the TruAudio.com website, including FORGE, Atlona, and Surgex products.

The app allows integrators to display products at their current pricing level or MSRP for their customers. They can determine job profitability quickly and calculate a customer bid while they walk the job site.

Once a product purchase has been made, the app creates a PO that is emailed directly to the integrator. TruApp users can also receive email notifications of product introductions and special product discounts.

The new TruApp is free and will be available for download on September 6th. CEDIA goers can download the new app at TruAudio’s booth #5254 or download it directly from TruAudio.com.
